Héctor Esrawe — born in 1968 in Mexico — is a prolific furniture and interior designer, architect, academic and entrepreneur, living and working in Mexico City.
His work reflects clear knowledge and understanding of materials, processes, techniques and artisanal skills. Esrawe transforms the shape and expression of natural materials, while being nurtured by Mexico’s rich artisan heritage, aiming for a timeless and honest creation.
Héctor Esrawe studied industrial design at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) until 1992, from 1997-2001 he was a Design Professor at UIA, after that he became Design Director at CENTRO Study House until 2003, where he created the Industrial Design Degree.
Héctor Esrawe’s works have been exhibited internationally, including at Objective Gallery in China and New York, in a solo show at Ateliers Courbet in New York, at Oliver Gustav in Copenhagen, and at MASA Galería, most notably at their Rockefeller Center debut, as well as in a recent collaborative exhibition with Luhring Augustine.
Esrawe’s work is part of private collections, as well as permanent collections such as that of the High Museum in Atlanta. He was awarded the Créateurs Design Award for Best Limited Series and Bespoke Design in Paris.
Esrawe co-founded EWE Studio, MASA Galería, the experimental glass-making collective VISSIO, the unique experience of Xinu perfumes, and his design and architecture practice, Esrawe Studio, founded in 2003. For his exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society, he was honored as an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
