ABOUT HÉCTOR

Héctor Esrawe — born in 1968 in Mexico — is a prolific furniture and interior designer, architect, academic and entrepreneur, living and working in Mexico City.

His work reflects of clear knowledge and understanding of materials, processes, techniques and artisanal skills. Esrawe has a magnificent ability to — simply but abstractly — transform the shape and expression of natural materials, while being nurtured by Mexico’s rich artisan heritage, aiming for a timeless and honest creation.

Esrawe is passionate about constant experimentation and horizontal collaboration that is defining his work today, and which has attracted the attention of collectors, academies and institutions, as how the line between disciplines is blurred in his practice.

Since 2013 Héctor Esrawe started to create unique and limited edition pieces, the work of Héctor on this field varies from collectible design, functional and non-functional objects.

Héctor Esrawe’s works have been shown with Objective Gallery in China and New York, with Collectional Gallery in United Arab Emirates, and with MASA Galería in Mexico.

The work of Esrawe is part of numerous private collections, as well as permanent collections at the High Museum of Atlanta.

He has co-founded the nomadic gallery MASA, the experimental glass making collective VISSIO, the evocative EWE Studio, the unique experience of Xinu perfumes and his original design and architecture practice Esrawe Studio, founded in 2003.

Héctor Esrawe studied industrial design at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) until 1992, from 1997-2001 he was a Design Professor at UIA, after that he became Design Director at CENTRO Study House until 2003, where he created the Industrial Design Degree when he launched his multidisciplinary design practice Esrawe Studio, which he directs until today.
